United Airlines B737-900 overran runway on landing at Chicago O’Hare.

A United Airlines Boeing 737-900, registered as N69816 performing flight UA656 (UAL656) originating from Phoenix, AZ to Chicago O’Hare, IL (USA) with 129 people on board, landed on Runway 04R but overran at the end of the runway and came to a stop with the nose gear off the paved surface.

The passengers were disembarked via airstairs and were transported to terminal building by bus. There were no injuries reported by Chicago’s Fire Department, although the aircraft sustained minor damage in the nose gear.

It was a little unsettling when I looked over and we were in the grass.

Between 4 and 9 inches of snow fell Friday night into Saturday morning in the Chicago area.
